IMPROVEMENT OF THE ANGUS BREED THROUGH THE USE OF SEMEN

Nowadays, cattle breeding, in order to obtain a product with high performance characteristics is achieved more and more through assisted fecundation techniques. In this sense, it is possible to have natural reproduction with performing bulls or to use frozen semen. This option provides semen of high quality and high genetic bulls of the Aberdeen Angus breed to provide calves with a daily average, increase in lactation and grass on the pasture. This can lead to faster genetic progress and increased profitability of the farm through products with high performance. By this alternative method to natural mounts it is also possible to synchronize the heat of the cattle and the calving during the same period (at 2/3 days difference), unlike the classic method when the calving period is a period of 2/3 months.

Angus seminal material is orientated, both to increasing the cattle breeding value and to the farmer’s needs, with the objective of adding both, genetic and financial value, thus increasing the profitability of the farm.

In order to improve the cattle breed and to achieve superior bulls, Karpaten Meat farm has carefully selected semen from worldwide recognized bulls. The bulls from which the semen is, have shown good results, that were recognized at European level.

In order to get the best results for calf weight gains for next year, it is important to plan early and to choose your breeding bulls to avoid inbreeding and to get the best results for the future genetic material.
