Last week the first National Conference of Beef Cattle Breeders took place. The event took place in Poiana Bra\u015fov, where the organizers brought to the discussion table the main actors of this sector – from the representatives of academic experts, to more than 150 farmers who confirmed their presence.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Throughout the day, the situation of the Romanian beef cattle sector was discussed, followed by presentations on the beef market, the management of a farm or specialized sources of funding. The main theme, however, that was highlighted in all the speeches from the event was the need for top genetics, obtained through a breeding improvement system.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Coordinator of the event, the Aberdeen Angus Association, through the presentation of Ioan Gociman (Executive Director), emphasized the importance of implementing an Angus breeding program in Romania in order to track the genetic progression of the breed and to obtain a pure Angus breed with top genetics. Also, Angela McGregor, Vice President of the Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society, reiterated this subject, presenting a successful model based on a careful selection of cattle.\u00a0 Speakers from Karpaten Meat were Iulian Stancu (meat sales manager) – talking about the evolution of beef in Europe and Romania, Lauren\u0163iu \u015eerban (animal sales manager) – talking about the whole Angus cattle selection and breeding process on KMG farms and Samuel Widmer – about the management of an Angus farm in Europe.<\/p>\n

The launched discussion session that followed the presentation brought up new information in this field and also new business perspectives and new possible partnerships.<\/p>\n

The National Conference of Beef Cattle Breeders was organized by the Center for Agricultural Management in partnership with Agricover, the ProAgro National Federation, the Romanian Cattle Farmers Federation, the Angus Romania Association, the Aberdeen Angus Association and the Association of Cattle Breeders and Exporters, Sheep and Pigs from Romania.<\/p>\n
