THE RELATION BETWEEN THE LOCAL MANUFACTURER AND THE COMMUNITY, IN SIBIU – EUROPEAN GASTRONOMIC REGION 2019

The Sibiu Region hosted the 16th meeting of the European Gastronomic Regions Platform between 11 and 14 February 2019. All European regions that have been bearing this title since 2016, as well as those who will wear the title by 2021, took part in this event. The topic of the meeting was represented by the urban – rural connection, for which the Sibiu region was chosen as an example of good practice. The guests debated related gastronomy topics and discovered in 4 days a few of the successful projects of the inhabitants of the Sibiu region, including our farm.

On 13.02.2019 they came to visit our farm in Marpod, participants from the public, academic, business and NGO (Non-governmental organizations) environment. For one hour, guests were able to discover our farm, its’ history and our company development plans, but also found out about the Angus beef produced in Transylvania, its marketing and the role of Angus beef produced locally in relation to the restaurants in Roumania. During the visit of the farm, we showed them examples of good practice in our field and the involvement of our company in the development of local gastronomy. From the position of a local producer of a high-quality product, our main desire is to contribute to the creation of a culinary culture of beef in Romania and to facilitate consumers’ access to these 100% natural local products obtained through a fully controlled process and full traceability.
